VINCI Construction UK bounces into Barking Park

The Lottery is funding the restoration and landscaping of Barking Park on behalf of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. The onsite contractors, VINCI Construction UK, have built up close relationships with the park community including dog walkers, The Friends of the Park and the Park Rangers Team.

VINCI Construction UK recently donated the use of a bouncy castle for a community fun day in the park to celebrate National Childminding week, providing free activities for the under 5s.  Around 127 families attended and the bouncy castle was highlighted as one of the most popular activities and there wasn’t a moment in the entire day when there wasn’t someone bouncing on it!

Julie Worboyes, Information and Outreach Officer, Integrated Family Services, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham said,

“'The Bouncy Castle played a huge part in making the day a success and we thank you for your kind donation.'”

The project team hold monthly meetings with everyone in the park community to make sure everyone is involved throughout the project and well-informed on plans and progress. Newsletters are also published and displayed around the park and VINCI Construction UK work with the Park Rangers to make sure the trees and wildlife are protected.

VINCI Construction UK also donated all the eggs for Easter Egg hunts which were organised by Emma Tuckey of the Park Rangers Team over the half-term break.

Paul Knight, Assistant Site Manager at VINCI Construction UK said,
“We really enjoying working with the local community on this project and it’s great to see everyone getting so involved. The parents of the children who took part in the Easter Egg hunts thanked us and Emma for organising the hunts and said they had a brilliant time.”

Jim Wilson, Senior Site Manager at VINCI Construction UK said,
It is great to see joint working and engagement between the local community and VINCI Construction UK to ensure that everyone will be able to enjoy the fully restored park.”
