The Environment

We operate an Environmental Management System which enables us to achieve and demonstrate our environmental performance by minimising the negative impact of our operations, whilst maximising the potential for environmental improvement. Our aim is to be at the forefront of the industry in reducing the impact of all our activities on the environment.

 What we said in 2007


    • We will target zero environmental incidents
    • We will publish comprehensive environmental data
    • We will develop an environmental travel policy
    • Our sites will use Site Waste Management Plans
    • Conren will gain ISO 14001 certification

 What we did in 2008


    • We completed over 350 contracts and received two Section 60 Notices for noise
    • We initiated a process for the collection of comprehensive environmental data
    • We drafted and developed a travel policy which will be issued in 2009
    • The majority of our sites carried out Site Waste Management planning and completed supporting plans
    • Restructuring of VINCI PLC meant that the process of independent certification of Conren had to be postponed for 2008

 What we are doing in 2009


    • Target zero environmental incidents
    • Set waste targets to meet the Half Waste to Landfill Commitment
    • Further increase ISO 14001 certification across the re-structured business
    • Undertake targeted initiatives to directly improve sustainability throughout the Group’s supply chain
    • Ensure that all operations report on environmental performance indicators
